Shree Mahalingeshwara ITI College

Undivided Coastal District of Dakshina Kannada is known for its path-breaking educational institution and the people are nearly 100% literate. While most of the institutions are concentrated in the coastal region, Dakshina Kannada Gowda Vidya Sanga (Regd) Sullia (DKGVS) has played a vital role in the lush green Malnad region of Sullia, Puttur and surrounding regions ever since its inception in the year 1921.

It all began with a small but firm step in the year 1946 in the form of a hostel in Puttur. It was to facilitate poor students to pursue education. Thanks to the effort of Shri Sannayya Patel the past President of DKVGS who succeeded in getting the required land for the sangha. The pride of the community and an icon in the field of education late Shri Kurunji Venkataramana Gowda added a new dimension to the Sangha by initiating Shri Mahalingeshwara ITI (SMITI) in the same hostel to impart technical education in the year 1986. It was very first ITI in the district. Later on Shri Paddambailu Venkataramana Gowda, Shri Gundya Annayya Gowda, Smt Padmavathi Puttappa (Ex correspondent) Shri C.P Jayarama Gowda and at present under the President Shri Dananjaya Adpangaya and correspondent Shri U.P Ramakrishna and management have taken it to a greater height.
